If you struggle to function in the morning before you've had your first cup of coffee, this machine will get you going much faster.

The Wi-Fi Coffee Machine by Smarter can be triggered to not only make you a hot drink tailored to your individual taste, it can have it ready for you before you even wake up.

Once it has ground the beans and boiled the water to a precise temperature, it will send an alarm to your phone to rouse you.

Alternatively, the software can be pre-programmed to make coffee at the same time each morning, or in the evening.

The system also welcomes people home at the end of the day with an offer to brew up a latte or Americano.

The machine is part of a tech revolution that is creating smart homes where all the appliances will eventually be controlled via wireless links to a home hub.

Everything from the heating to the lighting, the washing machine to the TV, oven and even lock on the front door will be controlled from smartphones that link into the home Wi-Fi system or the internet.

HOW SMARTER'S MACHINE WORKS

Smarter's coffee machine makes the drink from scratch, first grinding the beans and then boiling the water.

It comes with a number of pre-programmed recipes which can be tweaked to suit the individual's taste.

As well as making coffee according to pre-programmed schedule or to order, it will tell the owner when it needs refilling.

It even offers to make a cup of coffee when they enter the house, using its Welcome Home mode.

The machine also works with other devices, including wristbands that monitor sleep.

This means the smart technology can identify if the wearer has slept badly and suggest making a really strong cup of coffee to give them a caffeine boost to start the day.

Initially, people will control their appliances by tapping in commands, however the option to replace this with voice commands to iPhones or Android devices is already being developed.

The new smart coffee machine has been created by tech experts at London-based Smarter.

The firm already makes a smart iKettle, controlled in the same way, and is sold for £99 ($150) by Apple stores and John Lewis.

Its first intelligent Wi-Fi coffee machine will cost £129 ($196), which is modest by the standards of some hi-tech kitchen drinks machines, and goes on sale in the UK in March.

It will be available with international shipping.

Founder and chief executive, Christian Lane, said: 'The idea is that we want to create the perfect morning experience.

'When you get up in the morning there is a fine line between a good day and a bad day, which starts when you wake up.

'The Smarter coffee maker is a bean to cup coffee machine. It freshly grinds your coffee even before you even get up in the morning.

'That means you wake up to freshly ground coffee, you go downstairs and it is already there waiting for you.

'Not only does it save you time, but it feels like it is happening in the background, seamlessly.'
