Tody by Rana Alper, has four arms, each containing 22 steam nozzles and 29 vacuum nozzles.
HOW IT WORKS
Each arm has 22 steam nozzles and 29 vacuum nozzles
The robot can drag itself up curtains and sofas using its arms
The jets blast fabric and walls with steam.
Vacuum nozzles also suck up dust
Rubbish and waste water is channeled to reservoirs in the robot's body
Unlike current robot cleaners, which can only cover the ground, the Tody can crawl everywhere - even up curtains.
It was designed by 21 year old Turkish design student Rana Alper, and has already been shortlisted in the prestigious Electrolux Design Challenge.
'Tody is a floor and fabric cleaner,' she explained.
'Through 4 arms it can climb, move and hang in every high area such as seats, curtains and windows'
'In each arm has 22 steam nozzle , 29 vacuum nozzle and thousand of small extensions which help move.'
Vacuum and steam nozzles connect to the water tank and dust bag through channels.
Metin Tuztas of Electrolux, one of the contest's judges, said: 'We appreciate the smart design together with the well prepared technical background.'
The idea is one of 100 out of more than 1,700 submissions have been selected by experts from Electrolux to compete for participation in the next stage in the global design competition.
